Your History,

Reimagined

REWORKED FROM: YOUR SENTIMENTAL TEXTILES & HEIRLOOM FABRICS

Do you have a piece of clothing that carries a story you aren't ready to let go of? Whether it’s a loved one’s well-worn work jacket, a vintage tapestry, or a pair of overalls that has seen better days, I specialize in the art of the resurrection.

My custom process is built on a foundation of creative trust. When you commission a piece, you provide the fabric and the history; you give free reign to deconstruct, design, and hand-build a new form that honors its old soul. You can from the library of existing designs, or provide inspiration examples for a new style.

Every commission is a collaborative journey of transformation, resulting in a one-of-one accessory that is uniquely yours.

HAND-CRAFTED. ONE OF ONE. MADE IN KC.

FAQs

  • Most fabrics are suitable for rework and more importantly are worth saving. I specialize in heavy-duty and structured textiles that have a story to tell.

Heavyweight fabrics, such as jackets, denim, tablecloths, & upholstery fabrics are perfect for handbags

Medium-weight fabrics, such as linen and cotton work best for handbag linings and small accessories

Lightweight or sheer fabrics such as chiffon or organza pair well for a handbag's contrasting, non-structural detail

Stretch fabrics such as t-shirts and sweatshirts are not well-suited for handbags, but work excellently in laptop cases with some added padding.

Unfortunately, fast-fashion apparel is very often low quality & easily prone to damage so often ends up in landfill. At Gold Soul Design, quality, sustainability, and longevity hold great value. So, how are these two antithetical ideas reconciled? By using fast-fashion fabrics as filler in home decor pieces: the fabric is saved from landfill, but its lack of durability is no longer a concern in its new use.

If you’re unsure if your "Old Soul" textile is a good fit, feel free to reach out with a photo and we can evaluate its potential for a second life.

  • Good things take time, especially when they are handmade in my KC studio.

Typically, a commission takes 4–6 weeks from the moment your fabric arrives at the studio to the final stitch.

This allows for a thoughtful deconstruction process and the careful reconstruction of your one-of-one item.

  • Custom projects will vary, based on the amount of customization from an existing design.

If your design is completely new, prices start at $100.

For bespoke versions of existing designs, pricing is usually +20-50% on top of the standard pricing for that design.
